Right, that was quick. The Parasite, one of the first 'books' I published - it is in fact a 40,000 word novella - is now available on Amazon Kindle. I've worked through it, but not a huge amount since I didn't want to change it into something that had ceased to be that original The Parasite. That, I can tell you, was a temptation difficult to resist. I also haven't got a cover picture or ISBN number up. If I'd used the original cover picture then I would have had to bugger about with copyright issues and I didn't get an ISBN because I don't yet know whether it would be worth the money (10 ISBNs for a £100 I'm told)

I hope you all enjoy it.

Here's the blurb for it:

After mining complex ices deep in the Solar System, Jack Smith is concerned about his profit margin, but is it him who doesn’t want to face quarantine or something squirming inside him? The Cryon Corporation Director, Geoffry Haven, is also concerned about the bottom line and might consider Jack an expense he can no longer afford, though perhaps suitable for a starring role in a snuff movie. Meanwhile, the human and unhuman agents of World Health must investigate. Perhaps it’s time to deploy vat-grown killers and an anti-photon weapon, because the parasite is coming to Earth, and it’s hungry.

The Parasite was first published by Tanjen Ltd as an illustrated novella back in 1996. Tanjen closed down a number of years later and since then the novella has been difficult if not impossible to obtain. There are copies out there, but checking recently I haven’t seen one for below $50.00, which is a hell of a lot for something only 130 pages long and perhaps only for completists. I’ve edited it again, thought I haven’t been too heavy-handed since I didn’t want to deliver something that had completely ceased to be the original. This is my first attempt at self-publishing through Amazon Kindle. I hope you all enjoy it!

I shall have to go have a look at that Neal, though I've still got quite a few of your Polity books to read.

I got my new Kindle for my birthday, hope all your books make it to the Kindle Store because our bookshops are so expensive and they do not always have a large variety.

I bought Gridlinked from Amazon about a week ago then sent it back.

Why? We'll I bought a Kindle and re-ordered the ebook version :) So its my first every eBook purchase!!

I cant seem to find Prador Moon on Kindle though? All I can find is Prador Mond?

You will enjoy Gridlinked, you can download a sample of the Prador Moon to your kindle to see if it's in English at least, maybe they misspelt the title. Give it a go let me know.

This is odd, before I got my proper Kindle I downloaded the Android app version and I have the English Prador Moon sample preview downloaded. So it must have been available at some point on the Amazon UK site and it's mysteriously vanished?!

I can only download from .com as I am in South Africa so I wouldn't know whats on .co.uk. I recommend going through the Cormac series first, I have only read Gridlinked but a lot say stick with the series as all the books are good.

Ah I see, I'm most certainly going to read them all. I was just considering reading them in chronological order instead of the order they were published. But it doesn't really matter which one I choose. I'm liking Gridlinked so far :)

There is a reading order mentioned on one of Neal forums here, he posted them himself for obvious reasons. Some are stand alone, some are part of another series but the nice thing from what I can see so far is that the series are complete (I stand corrected) so you do not have to wait for a new release in that series. But Neal said he is diligent and he will not falter in his production schedule :D

I have just checked my records and almost all my Neal Asher books (all ebooks) were bought from amazon.co.uk however the one exception seems to be Prador Moon which I bought from WH Smith (where it is still available)!

Bizarre though it may seem it is possible that they are "sold out"; I believe that book sellers have to buy a certain number of licences for ebooks from the publishers and once they are all sold they cannot sell any more until they buy more licences.
