I don't know whether this would be the right forum to mention this, but it is generally the one everyone who writes at Chrons congregates (and press release seemed too official) so...
I can finally shout that I've been selected for the Clarion writers workshop in sunny San Diego. I'm on the list here of acceptances, last one mentioned due to my rear-alphabety type surname...
Clarion Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers' Workshop
Still can't believe it. For a start I've never had a passport and haven't left Blighty in some twenty years. Now I'm going to that place that hitherto only existed in Top Gun to have Jon Scalzi whip me into literary shape.
I want to thank everyone here for their insight and help over the last couple of years; sparkly gift-ponies all round, I think. And a very special thanks to Teresa- shes a sort of memetic Godmother to the two stories I submitted and I'd be remiss If I didn't say her services as a second pair of eyes over your manuscript is a very good idea indeed. Proofs in the pudding.
So keep chipping away down in your word mine, folks. If an eejit like me can get to go to Clarion there's hope for us all.
