I don't know whether this would be the right forum to mention this, but it is generally the one everyone who writes at Chrons congregates (and press release seemed too official) so...

I can finally shout that I've been selected for the Clarion writers workshop in sunny San Diego. I'm on the list here of acceptances, last one mentioned due to my rear-alphabety type surname...

Clarion Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers' Workshop

Still can't believe it. For a start I've never had a passport and haven't left Blighty in some twenty years. Now I'm going to that place that hitherto only existed in Top Gun to have Jon Scalzi whip me into literary shape.

I want to thank everyone here for their insight and help over the last couple of years; sparkly gift-ponies all round, I think. And a very special thanks to Teresa- shes a sort of memetic Godmother to the two stories I submitted and I'd be remiss If I didn't say her services as a second pair of eyes over your manuscript is a very good idea indeed. Proofs in the pudding.

So keep chipping away down in your word mine, folks. If an eejit like me can get to go to Clarion there's hope for us all.

Congratulations, Jim! From Leicester to San Diego... hmmm... wonder if East Midlands airport has a direct flight...

dang, but that's good news. in fact, it's awesome. here's hoping it goes well for you!

That's great! Congratulations.

Hope you enjoy it and that it turns out to be useful to your writing career.

Congratulations! Wave as you pass over Iowa.

Congratulations! Nice group of writers there. I've read a fair amount of short fiction by Kessel and Johnson and all of Scalzi's novels. I'll be interested to hear what the whole experience was like (if you care to tell us). I lived in San Diego for a while and La Jolla is not a bad place to be that time of year. Scenic. ;)

Congratulations! Wave as you pass over Iowa.

I'll drop you some of those inflight packs of peanuts they give out (Or do they still? Its been ages since I've flown).

Thanks for your congrats, everyone. And, yes, in some way I will try to put up a 'journal' somewhere on the intahweeb. Maybe I'll start that blog I've always thought about (or maybe just use the one here). A friend of mine has given me a twitter account without my foreknowledge, so I could always use that If I could work out what its all about!

You haven't even been yet and you're already using long words of which I haven't heard....

Congratulations, J-WO. :):):)

(But be careful opening that window over Iowa: not only might you experience the Goldfinger Effect, but you - or your estate - might be sued by those on the ground affected (physically or psychologically) by having high-speed peanuts in their vicinity.)
