The outline of the story is:
A man wakes up with no memory, he is able to enter a fortress that has been lock for thousands of years. He lives there and comes to find out that the land is threatened by an old evil.
His people are peace-loving race that find pleasure in carving rocks. We find out that his people are the blessed of one of the gods who empowered them with the knowledge of war – they are the perfect soldiers-.
The man finds out that he is the last prince of his people that faced the evil in the past and won. His task is to lead the combined peoples of his world against this new threat. His people and land where shattered in the last war and at the conclusion of the last war, each of the other nations agreed that they would protect his people for all time.
The story is staged over four books and was in paper back when i read it about 15 years ago. The cover picture of the first book is a fortress in the mountains with a path leading up to it with a man dress in black walking towards it.
Any help would be great at finding this book...
