SG-U: 2.13 - Alliances

[Dr.Jackson]

Senator Michaels (KATHLEEN QUINLAN) and Dr. Andrew Covel (FRENCH STEWART) visit Destiny to verify Rush’s mysterious data and determine the viability of another Icarus base. Greer and Wray, using the communication stones, find themselves in the midst of an alien attack when an alien ship crashes into Homeworld Command.

Trapped inside the collapsing building with no way in or out, Greer and Wray learn from Telford that the crashed ship is emitting radiation, likely from a bomb. They have no choice but to attempt to diffuse the bomb that threatens the entire district. Unable to disconnect the stones, Rush discovers not everyone want Greer and Wray back aboard Destiny.

This episode, honestly, did very little for me, feeling slightly like a filler episode. A lot was going on, but it didn't feel like much actually happened. It allowed for Greer and Wray to connect more, and escalated the threat from the Lucian Alliance.
I'm not sure if it's just because the series is coming to an end that it felt like that, possibly less invested in the characters.
The disposable characters were good enough, mirroring the two groups on Destiny. I thought it was a bit obvious, however, that they had the Senator say all that stuff about the military having signed on for this and that the civilian group shouldn't have been there, and then for her to be more wiling to sacrifice herself for the greater good than the SGC scientist. A little clichéd.

I did like the fact that French Stewart was in it playing a member of the SGC, a little nod to the original Stargate film in which he played Kowalski.

I don't know if I'm maybe just happy that there is new Stargate coming out, when I have seen all of SG1 and Atlants plus the movies. But I starting to like SGU more and more for every episode and I think that there is almost always something in the episodes that have some mening for the future even though some episodes feels more like fillers then others.

And Varro is trying and trying to get on the good side, even though I understand there suspision twards him I just feel "man, just let him be part of the team already!" sometimes.
