Since we're all into competitions and even though I realise it"s not strictly limited to SFF I thought people might be interested in this link I've just found.

listings of local national and international writing competitions and contests

Annoyingly some of the final dates have passed. However they are probably annual in nature ,so it could be a site to put on your favourites list for checking out at regular intervals.

Even more annoyingly one is/was run in my home town and yet I don't recall ever seeing it advertised.

I'm moving this to General Writing Discussion, since the Writing Challenge forum was created basically as a place to stow threads devoted to our own competitions before they completely overwhelmed the Workshop.

And in GWD, this thread may also attract people who have no interest in our monthly and quarterly challenges.

Good link, TEiN.

"First Annual Ventriloquist Duologue Scriptwriting competition"?!?!

v: The number of entries is pretty low, Bob.
d: Who's the dummy now?

Just make sure you read the fine print with regards to writing competitions, you could be signing over all your rights with regards to the short story/novel and remember a lot charge a fee to enter.

Good point.

My local competition demands the right to use it on their material royalty free for a while. But how else would they publish the winners.

However, as you say, take care
