I have only read the first few issues, and thought they were pretty darned good. Then I watched the new TV series on AMC, and I fell in love with it.

A question to people in the know: are the graphic novels worth the investment? Does the story get better, or does it start to run out of steam after a while (as most comic book series tend to do)?

Any input is appreciated.

Buy the books. Even after book 5 the story is going strong. Best zombie-tale. Hands down.

I dont like zombie tv or films but TWD is a slow moving at first but its great when it gets going. Reading in GN collections was one of the best reading experiences i have had.

TWD tv show doesnt even capture 10% of what makes the series great. Not because im a big fan but because how it is written, character wise.

All the books are at walmart, i got them and love them.

I hadn't heard of TWD before TV show was released. After seeing last tv episode, I became so exited i got the comic series and spent whole weekend just reading it. It "consumed" me. Imo, it is much better than tv show and I do recomend it.

I got Volume 14 and it's still my favourite comic right now.
TV show was only ok in my opinion. Not sure if I'll bother with season 2.

I definately reccomend the comic though and that you buty in volumesnot issues.

My favorite comic ever, hands down. The compilations are cheap on Comicxology, if you are OK with electronic issues. I buy the series that way now, then get the yearly hardback for my collection.

TWD series never seems to run out of steam. The TV series seems to drag its feet at times just to make an extra episode but the comics just run full steam ahead.

I've just got hold of the first volume of The Walking Dead (i.e. the first 6 issues of the comic), and am really enjoying it, both for the story and the excellent artwork.

What issue is it up to now? How much am I missing? :)

Volume One TPB arrived yesterday so started it last night - much better than I expected and amazing to see how some of the characters actually look like the cast in the tv series!

I absolutely love the TV show and the graphic novel. I know some people think the TV how is slow but I love the contant sense of tension throughout.

I love zombie shows & films. I think the B-movie element is part of what I like so much. Decaying corpses rising from the grave? :D Well, I guess the bacteria are alive & well, though the person is dead; so, why not have them reanimate the corpses?

The TV show has been made from the novel but you might think it was the other way round, the way some of the shots and scenes have been done.

Michone was awesomely like her book character, like she had stepped off the page.

Ilove the comic. Haven't read anything beyond Volume 2 cause I'm too tight for anything but anthologies, but i think its fantastic

I watched the first few episodes of the tv show. Haven't been as disappointed in a comic book adaptation since daredevil. I really don't understand the appeal of that show: terrible acting, terrible script imo

But it is so funny when zombies get people! I know little about what makes good TV or movies, but I do know what I like. :D There is chemistry, conflict, love, death & sadness, etc. All that, plus the unexpected deaths of key characters. How I will miss Merle.

This year shows I am watching are, this, MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, & SLEEPY HOLLOW. Other than those, just the animated comedies. But of those, I find myself laughing at what I assume is unintended silliness. :p As long as that is present, I will enjoy such shows.

Anyone reading this who's up-to-date? I've been impressed with the direction it's gone in the last couple of issues

With the 2 year time jump, Rick's new position of almost reverential awe from the communities' folks.. Eugene stepping up, Maggie being in control of Hilltop. And Negan still being alive for his inevitable escape and hopefully bloody end! But what of Michonne and the Kingdom, can they keep control of the mega-herds, are there other civilizations out there that we could meet?
