Fantasy Trilogy female main charecter

I read these books about 10 years ago...Its driving me crazy not being able to remember..


In the first book everyone thinks the main character is a boy at first and her caretaker tries to keep up that idea so no one messes with her. I think she might be disfigured somehow but by some magic is made beautiful. At some point in the series she meets a prince and at another point there is a pied piper. She travels to another world or something too like at the end of the movie pan's labyrinth. I know these details aren't very helpful but its been a long time. I think one of the books has a mirror on the cover or maybe a lake

It's a long shot, but is it The Ill-Made Mute by Cecilia Dart-Thornton?

Sounds like it to me, The Ill-Made Mute is the first in the trilogy, "The Bitterbynde", and ticks pretty much all of the boxes above. I did a re-read not long ago.
