I've noticed there's no Katherine Kerr sub-forum and am just wondering why?
Surely she is important enough to be included?
Out of all the fantasy authors I've read her work seems the most realistic, the most gritty and satisfying to me. I love the Celts(all my children have Celtic names) and she seems to have hit the nail on the head with her Devery series.
How does one go about having a new sub-forum added?
Thank you.

Hi, Leadbelly,

Unless an author is directly associated with the Chrons, sub-forums are created only when a given author is generating a great deal of interest on the boards. This normally entails having five or six active discussions about the author and their work ongoing, involving several members of the forums.

If these threads look to be sustained rather than a quick question which slips into obscurity in a week or so after a flurry of comments, we might look at setting up a sub-forum.

Hope that helps.

I really enjoyed her Deverry series when they came out, and the couple that followed. Have lost touch with her work more recently. I think she just emerged too early for a big internet reaction. The real reason I'm replying is the children's name comment. My wife chose 'Rhodri' for one of our sons, and it was from Kerr's books rather than due to any Welsh ancestory.

Just out of interest, when was the last time that happened?

We set up the Joe Abercrombie and Toby Frost sub forums recently. Abercrombie due to there has been a lot of active discussions around his works and Toby who, as well as being an excellent writer is a very active member of the forum.

The Janny Wurts sub-forum is recent as well, and was set up after just such representations as Ian mentioned.

I thought lots of them were quite recent, although perhaps I'm just showing my age...

A problem is is that some of them get formed after a burst of discussion and then remain more or less dormant.

Often they go dormant as the authors are between books. The Wurts forum for instance should get a shot in the arm this fall when her next book is released, and readers will want to discuss it. There is often a bit of a spike when a new reader "discovers" an author.

The most active author forum by far is George R.R. Martin, and he hasn't published a book since 2005!
