Well, I love my David Gemmell. I've read Troy, and all the Drenai books twice, and a couple of the stand alones.

Next I'm planning to read Rigante OR The Stones of Power series (including the Lion and Macedon and Dark Prince).

Which would you go for of the two, and why? (i.e, which shall I go for this time around, since they'll both get read sooner or later!)

Coragem.

I have yet to read The Stones of Power, however I have read Rigante and I have to say Ravenheart is one of my all time favorite heroic fantasy stories, and I really did enjoy the entire series.

I have read the Rigante series twice and the first two John Shannow books. The Shannow titles just did not grab me anywhere near the Rigante books did.

Oh crap I get confused between the Stones of Power and Jersulem Man. If SOP is one and the same as JM then Rigante and JM are equally my fave Gemmell books. JM is about a fantasy western set after nuclear war(?) or some apocalyptic event so it's in the future.

What did you go with in the end?

I would have said the Rigante but if you love guns then Shannow may have gripped you tighter.

The Rigante series is much later in time (real time!) than the much earlier Wolf in Shadow, etc. DG did get much better in his writing as he grew as a writer. Compare the Troy series to The King Beyond the Gate and you'll see what I mean.

a toughie, both series are better than the drenai books (sorry, pls dont flame, but to me they are).

Love hem all and would say read em all!!
