Thor (2011)

No Spoilers

Great film, thrilling and fun.

I've been a fan of Thor from Marvel Comics since the early 1970's when I watched the cartoon from the 1960's, a couple of years later, I began reading the amazing comic book adventures of the mighty Asgardian.

As usual, I never watch any movie trailer for a film that I really want to see, I saw the movie yeaterday and was not disappointed, great visuals and cool action! I had many surprises!

Comic book fans of Marvel unite and see Thor!

Yes, a good action movie, it didn't bog down or turn into a comic book. Wonder what went wrong? :)

I saw Thor in 3D on Saturday and enjoyed it very much, as did my sister and niece who were with me.

There was a nice balance of humour, drama and action. Chris Hemsworth was perfect as Thor and Tom Hiddleston was just fantastic as Loki.

Personally loved this movie! As good or better than Iron Man (1 - not 2, 2 sucked - Mickey Rourke's face is SUCH a mess, Don Cheadle was simply AWEFUL!!!).

Chris Hemsworth IS Thor! The warrior, the comrade, the God, and the Man. Oh and that body! wow!
Tom Hiddleston was perfect too! they had such a great visual dynamic - one captured perfectly from the comic. The mighty golden warrior, and the slight, dark sorceror.
Natalie Portman was a great suprise - i'd actually forgotten she was in it... then BAM - Miss Everywhere-at-the-Moment was there! She was, as always, flawless.

Must admit, though he was flawless, am more than a little tired of seeing Anthony Hopkins in the same role over and over... i mean he plays the exact same character (more-or-less) in Beowulf (as animated and bad as it was).

It was alright. But Thor, Green Lantern, Captain America...they're all muscle men. I wish someone would break up the monotony and do an odd character like Plastic Man. Maybe a sequel to Mystery Men. Anything where the heroes aren't just biceps and serious expressions.

Thor certainly wasn't all serious expressions... though biceps (in particular Chris Hemsworth's AMAZING ones) do feature. Green Lantern isn't a bicep character either - its essentially a mental power.
mystery men? seriously? worst... movie... ever... well at least one of the worst Ben Stiller movies (and as a rule THEY SUCK!)
X-Men First Class is also not a muscle man movie.

I thought it was a great movie.
I was concerned at first that Kenneth Brannaugh would make it too much of a Shakespearean drama and leave out action and visuals.
I was happy to be wrong, I loved the scenes in Asgard and was happy that they included the warriors three. The Frost Giants were formidable enemies. Also the right mix of humor without getting wacky.

A sequel perhaps?
