The series will be really picking up steam now....hope any and all newbies have stuck with the show.
A friend of my wife's says she can't tell who is good and who is bad...I told her thats pretty much how it is.

I'm looking forward to Viserys receiving his Golden Crown. A memorable scene to be sure!

Ahh yeah I'd for gotten about that

(vaguely spoilery comment hidden)

His uppance will come

::D

Ben, I don't want to spoil this for those who have not read the series so I'll put this as delicately as I can.

Episode 6: A Golden Crown. Obviously, you know what that means.

Episode 7: You Win Or You Die. This refers to Cersei's famous line (at least to fans) in which she disregards a warning to deliver her own. Since this line must come before the line "I did warn you not to trust me", then "I did warn you not to trust me" must either end episode seven or begin episode eight... it cannot occur in episode six. And if you glance at the following two episode titles, you'll notice that the line must be delivered no later than the first half of episode eight.

Episode 8: The Pointy End.

Episode 9: Baelor.

Well, basically it hits the fan every episode... doesn't it? It's just that a few scenes stand out in this consistently surprising story. I expect many people to say in season four... "You had me at Baelor."

i'd like to participate in this thread but part of my body issued an amber alert and i voided.

now cleaning.

thank you for your patience.

I loved the Moon Door, Nice touch. That fight with Ser Egan really reminded me of how you miss so much not having the POV to get info from. Cat knew that the big, heavily armored knight might have trouble with the quicker Bronn, but you get no indication of that in the series. Not a complaint, just an observation.

I could do with Roz

Overall a good episode. Bye bye Viserys.

In the context of six wonderful shows, it was the most meh for me so far.

It was great with continuing Dany's story, but the rest was......

Once I had to explain who Bronn was I knew that a lot of the import was lost on any that didn't already know.

But Dany eating the heart, keeping it down, and Drogo picking his love, son and pride (not a misspell) up by the hips, that was awesome.

The moment that stood out for me was the opening scene. Sean Bean conveyed a look at Robert after he struck Cersei that almost redefined Eddard to me. I'd always focused on the line "Wear it in silence or I'll honor you again." But Bean's look conveyed utter shock, disgust, confusion, and a "what if" moment.

Eddard was stunned that Robert turned his strength and fury upon a woman. The hero of the Trident had become a wife beater.

Eddard was confused as to what to do about the violence done to Cersei. Honor demanded that he assist her, but hatred prevented him. Chivalry demanded that he defend her, but obedience to authority prevented him. He ended up doing nothing (yes he was incapacitated, but he said nothing)... sort of like Jaime not defending Rhaella from Aerys II. Hmmm.

But the kicker for me was that Bean's look said plain as day, "Oh crap! What if that was Lyanna?" What if it had been Lyanna? Would Eddard have defended her against his best friend? Against his king?

At the end of the scene, Eddard knows his impossible position just got worse.

I hated that bit with Viserys. I remember hating him in the book, but in the show I just felt sorry for him.

Roz sounded way too posh to be a whore.

Love Bronn.

Bronn's fight was well done.
Still irate over not having the Blackfish there...but what the hey.

Good point, Mouse I felt he was more sad and pathetic than threatening. I cant imagine the pain it was to get that Golden Crown.

I liked this episode, but i have enojoyed all of them so that's not saying much. I'm looking forward to Ep. 8 where GRRM has 100% input. I will read into that episode more than others as he may want to ensure certain things are in place that will effect the rest of the season/series.

Did anyone catch the look that BFS had after Lancel offered the king more wine? (hidden spoilers following) I may need to re-read this scene. Did BFS go back with Renly before Robert got too drunk and the deed was done? Otherwise, the look BFS gave indicated he felt something was a miss.

Minor grievances:

Cersie and that same worrisome look is starting to bother me. From the books, i dont think her face was balled up like a fist all the time. i'm afraid after this series is over she wont be able to take that look off, and she will become "type casted" for the rest of her acting career. Nevertheless, she does a well enough job in this role.

I wished they wouldnt have repeated the same "Bran dreaming" scene, and instead advance past the point we already saw.

By the way....Has anyone signed up for the "HBO: GO" to watch episode 7 a week early as advertised on HBO?

I've just watched episode seven. Commented in the spoiler thread so as not to ruin it. ;)

What I liked:

  • Dany & the heart
  • Jorah confronts Viserys about the eggs
  • Viserys gets his crown
  • Bronn is Tyrion's Champion
  • Roberts slaps the $#!t out of Cersei (well, sort of)
  • Ned accepts his hopeless situation
  • Bran's 3-eyed crow dream
  • Sansa being a bitch to Septa Mordane
Disappointed:

  • No wolves in the Bran - wildling encounter
  • Where are Bran's wolf dreams?

Overall, a good episode.

No wolves in the Bran - wildling encounter

You're right, I didnt think about the wolves during this scene while watching it.

Summer was just as brilliant in defending Bran as he was when they showed the first wolf attack. Actually, i was pretty impressed at the quality in which they choreographed the tearing of the throat and the nonchalant way he climbed back in bed with Bran.

If i wouldnt have seen Summers attack scene i would have chalked it up to it being too difficult orchestrate. I think they're missiing the mark on the wolf-stark dynamic as well. This was a scene that they could have hit a home run, or had an epic fail depending on how it came across to the viewer. I guess we'll never know....
