There are 2 books i'm looking for, and i think they're by the same author:

In the first one there is a kingdom at war and someone from the kingdom hires a warlock to fight for him. The strange part is the kingdom is near the edge of the world, and as the warlock gets closer to the edge of the world he gets more powerful...

The second book is about a soldier that runs into a hermit (who is a wizard). The hermit had trouble getting rid of the soldier and casts a spell on his sword so it kills on it's own accord. He is also immortal and everytime the sword is draw it has to kill someone in order to be sheathed... the catch is he cannot die. So if he gets mutilated/ grows old he still stays alive. He meets a woman wizard later that makes him never grow old...

I read both of these books in the mid 90s at a public library. Any tracking these books down would be great!

I'm pretty sure the first one is "The Unwilling Warlord". The second one is "The Misenchanted Sword", both by Lawrence Watt-Evans.

Those are the correct books! Thanks! Now I just hope they were as good as I remember them :)
