Have you ever noticed how technology in sci-fi is often universally compatible and durable.
In our brief technological history we can see that most things only last a few decades before they are rendered obsolete and even more often not forward compatible. With advanced tech like electronics were talking years not decades.
When you think about it, the first thing that comes to mind is that's its a trope for story telling. But is it?. How long can this break neck speed of discovery and advancement continue?, 100, 200, 500 more years?.
Is it out of the question that these hyper advanced civilizations in scifi plateaued long before their demise and that all this tech from various locations and times of their history was built along a centuries(millenia?) old standardization. So that when Joe human comes along and discovers all those bits and pieces they really can be used.
