I just came up with the weirdest crackpot theory to date.
It just hit me while posting in the Jon Snow thread.
Here's where it gets weird:
What if Howland Reed is in fact warging Jojen?
We know that Jojen has a penchant for warging, understanding a lot of what is going on with Bran. But what reason would they have to head North?
From AWOIAF:
What if this is not some sort of affected behaviour, but rather the personality of his father shining through? It would explain quite a few things:
1) Why he just sent two children to aid the Starks. Even if one is a survivalist and the other is a greenseer, Howland would have known that two children stand very little chance against the horrors of war, let alone those beyond the Wall. Only an insane man would send his two children unarmed. But what if the man actually went with them?
2) If Howland is warging Jojen, then he knows a thing or two about it. That is how he can tell Bran so much about him.
3) As said before, the gravity of his behaviour. Even a child can learn to speak heavily, as it were, like we have seen Robb do, but Robb seemed like a child quite a few times. But Jojen seemed to be more than the boy he appeared to be.
I know this is insane, but I just wanted to put it out there. It makes sense to me.

From AWOIAF:
Jojen is barely an adolescent when he arrives at Winterfell, but his gravity and mature personality make him seem older. He has unusually deep green eyes and wears green clothing.[3] He knows a number of arcane things that he gleans from his dreams, including the day of his death.
