An Interview With George R.R. Martin

I must admit, my biodroid brother, that I have not yet read this series because I want to wait until he finishes it. I'm not saying I don't trust him, but I'm also not saying that I don't....

1. Pretty big DWD semi-spoilers, not good.

2. The momentary criticism is utterly stupid:
Weaknesses that have plagued Martin's previous books are also present: too much repetition, unexceptional prose, and characters who use the same idioms (and have sex in exactly the same manner) no matter their ethnicity, social class, or continent.
I am not saying that Martin is the perfect writer, but these are some very bizarre things to call weaknesses.

3. A hint to the ending was very nice. My "Others win" theory still stands, but I am less sure of it now. I just hope he doesn't plop The Scouring equivalent into Westeros. But that would be the classic bittersweet ending.

Alright all you GRRM fans, ye might wish to listen to Tragedy (not the muse, but the poster) and not read the interview since possible pretty big DWD semi-spoilers might occur.

I just read this very interesting GRRM article in The New Yorker.

Also there is this article in Foreign Policy, which looks at how aSoIaF compares to the US foreign policy. I read the first couple of paragraphs and it looks good. I can't yet read it in full because it contains spoilers and I've just now started reading book 4.
