Hi there,

I'm pretty new to the world of Comics and Graphic Novels, and thus I need your help please.

Nub and gist is I'm a make-up artist looking to do a series of photos taking images from comics and creating them in real life. Much like the comic to film transaction that's been growing in the past few years.

Has anyone got any characters they can think of that might looking particularly interesting? Especially if they've already made the move to hardback which I can get on Amazon.

I'm already looking at characters from Supreme Power and Fray, to give you an idea of what I'm looking for.

Any help would be super appreciated!
Thank you so much :)

Rather than spending the dough at amazon, might I humbly suggest you raid the $1 bin at your local comic store? You'll have spent a LOT less and will have amassed far more material from which you can pick some for your work?

Thank you, will give it a go!

I picked up a few bundles of comics from London Expo, and plan to get a few more in October.

Just wondering if there was any particular ones I should be looking out for?

If it's images you're after, why not spend a few minutes on Google Images. I suspect you'll get a few thousand hits. If you need to print out the pictures make sure you set Google Images to search for Large images. You'll get fewer results, but the quality will be much better.

An example of a smallish picture might be:

And that might be all the detail you require.

@Lady

Ah, I figured you might not be too picky, since neither "Fray" nor "Supreme Power" are very well known series.

If you're looking for something which will be very interesting visually (and something that comic fans might recognise), you MUST have a look at any of the volumes of Grant Morrison's "The Invisibles" (not to be confused with the children's movie "arthur and the invisibles"). Some very crazy outfits (and make-up) there, visually VERY dynamic. Also features the coolest Transvestite character of any comic book, period. The visuals really find their groove from volume 2 onwards, you'll find something there for sure.

Similarly, "Transmetropolitan" has some crazy outfits/makeup also, and a kind of deranged-future aesthetic.

Have a look at some back issues of Heavy Metal, some very creative work there, particularly if you can track down any work by Enki Bilal (google image search that name, and maybe you'll see why I give him such high praise).

Oh my gawsh, thank you so much!

Yeah I'm looking for more quirky rather than well known really (definitely something that's not been already made into a film/tv show).

Have added them to my lists of library grabs for next week.

Have also just googled Enki Bilal and wow... amazing!

Thank you so so much, this helps oodles!

xx
