Walter Jon Williams - Looking for Info

No, i've only read his Dread Empire's Fall series (at least that's what i think it was called) and found it to be a pretty easy series to read.

Walter Jon Williams is a veteran and much underrated SF author first published in the 80s. He is one of those authors who like to try out different forms and influences.

The Dagmar books are near future techno-thrillers that ask some interesting questions about pervasive networks, "crowd sourcing" and security while still delivering a fast moving story.

Edit: Not "heavy SF", nothing in the way of "magical" technology just some extrapolation on current smart phone type applications and communication.

Similar stuff: Charles Stross (Halting State / Rule 34), Cory Doctorow (Little Brother)

If that doesn't sound like your kind of thing consider some of WJW's other great works

Cyberpunk: Hardwired
Space Opera: Aristoi
Urban fantasy (in the China Mieville sense rather than Dresden et al): Metropolitan

Definately not hard SF, although he did try to get the mechanics of space flight right. More Space Opera.

He's one of my favorites. I buy everything he publishes and thank you, Rune, for listing the next book in the Dagmar series. I wasn't aware of it and shall be looking out for it. He has my recommendation.

The books do sound interesting , I may try and get his first book - thanks for the info folks :D
