I am currently reading Transfer of Power and I have to admit that so far it is very interesting, has lots of tension and feels like a Tom Clancy novel without the filler. The blurb says it's a political action thriller about terrorists taking the US president and his staff hostage in the White House. The main character Mitch Rapp is more like a Jack Bauer type than a Jack Ryan type. I am only about 6% in the book and already there is a covert mission in Iran with a squad of navy SEALS and closely supported by 2 gunships. I would definitely recommend Vince Flynn (so far from what I have read) as he is easy to read and is not over complicating his story like Tom Clancy does. He seems to give you just the right amount of technical info to make the plot move forward without actually bogging it down.
