I'm currently half-way through 'A Clash of Kings'(lol @ the acronym in the thread title), and with POV-characters like Theon and Catelyn being hundreds of miles away from a marching King Robb, you only hear about his victories through word of mouth. No King has a POV in the story, and I know its a classic rule in writing to always have a viewpoint about the situation from a less important character(in terms of station), but Robb's expedition and emotions would make for a very interesting read; like the victory at Oxcross, when they passed multiple strongholds undetected through a secret pathway, or hearing the news of someone he considered a friend taking his family's estate.

I like Bran, but a bit less of his wolf-dreams and instead a bit more of Robb's mind would have been excellent, or atleast the Blackfish's mind.

ps Please don't discuss books beyond A Clash of Kings, thank you.:)

Well I'm already a victim through my own stupidity, but I have learned a spoiler doesn't necessarily take the schock or awe out of the story, GRRM way of writing still catches you unexpected.

I agree that a Robb POV would be interesting. I am gonna shut up now cause I almost had a spoiler in my first sentence! Keep going you will be so glad you did!

^I get it, Catelyn's POV was more than enough. EEK!

Meh,
Robb is a replica of his father and we've already seen all that, and looks what got him in the end. As a character I don't think he would have stood out all that much.

Robb was the classic hero character... he called the banners and marched south despite all the odds because it was the right thing to do. He crushed his enemies when he was overmatched, and GRRM kept him in the background ready to swoop in and save the day for those first two books.

Then he killed him to teach us all a lesson.

He always does that with his characters, he raises them high and epically destroys/humiliates them. Other times he creates a beautiful or handsome character famous for their swordmanship or grace, and then cuts off their hands, showers them with boiled oil, or gives them the walk of shame.

I don't think Robb alive would have served the story, because George needed a broken kingdom displacing the Stark princes and princesses into different regions of the world. If they still had their brilliant soldier-king-brother, they would have had a safe-haven, and they would seek his protection.

Arya tried, and almost succeeded, though in hindsight I'm glad she didn't.

spoilers!!!

It seems that GM always knew what was gonna happen to robb which is why he isn't pov, I certainly agree that he had an exciting story but imagine if he was a pov, after the events of SOS which are already heartbreaking would've been near traumatising, its painful as it is, but two pov's dead in one chapter is too much, at least for a middle book, for the last books tho, wouldn't put it past him.

Ps thanks for the messages guys, feel very welcome :)
