I read the TWOW Theon Chapter... A few things we learned... Stannis isn't dead which most of us knew.

This is my theory... I was wondering how GRRM was going to get everyone to the Wall realistically to fight the Others... The rest of the Kingdoms still believe the Others are children tales and false... But Stannis has set in motion Dany's return... The Knight Stannis is sending across the narrow sea to bring back sellswords is coming back with Dany and Dragons...

And when Dany arrive at the Wall, the crown and the rest of the Kingdom will ride to the Wall to oppose or support her... That is the only way I see getting everyone in one place for this final battle with the Others.

Something else GRRM said in the TWOW chapter that have great meaning... Theon told Stannis about Manderly hatred against the Frey... And he said Manderly and the Frey host will never merge... They will attack separately... And Stannis said why would to fat to ride all of a sudden ride to battle even when he didn't when Robb came. He sent his sons...

The Freys is going to get caught between Manderly and Stannis forces and get crushed... Manderly is not going to attack Stannis. We pretty much know that by how he helped Davos... And when Ramsey show up, Stannis is going to have twice the men and personally put Ramsey head on a stake...

And Stannis is going to take Winterfell from Roose... Roose will have no choice but to come out and face Stannis and Manderly because he don't have enough food to feed all his men for a long siege... Theon said Roose kept his best men behind with him. Which mean the true battle is coming between Stannis and Roose.

We also know Theon is too damaged to be Lord of the Iron islands... The Lords of the North will never let that happen anyway... Theon is going to spend the rest of his life with his grieving mother... Asha is finally going to give her mother her wish... To have her little boy back... And mentally, Theon is a little scared boy again... He will never be normal again...

These are just my theories...

Unfortunately for your theory is that the timeline does not support it. If you read GRRM's bolg post about the preview chapter, we see that this chapter actually happens BEFORE Jon receives the raven and the message from Ramsay. This is either a prelude to Stannis actually dying or to Ramsay being defeated. You may in fact be right in the end that Stannis is not dead but its all speculative, as GRRM, in his usual style, has thrown a wrench in the timelines and we will just to wait for TWOW for confirmation.

As a Christmas gift to all my loyal fans and readers, I've just replaced the (long published) sample chapters from A DANCE WITH DRAGONS on my website with an unpublished sample chapter from THE WINDS OF WINTER.

Go ye to "Ice & Fire Sample" on my website and enjoy.

(The chronology, as usual, is tricky. This chapter will be found eventually at the beginning of WINDS, but as you will be able to tell from context, it actually takes place before some of the chapters at the end of DANCE).

Love it or hate it, please do NOT discuss it here. Any such posts will be deleted. There are plenty of great places on the net for such discussions, so take your thoughts, comments, and analysis to Westeros or the Tower of the Hand or the Podcast of Ice and Fire, or your favorite foreign language site.

(FYI, there will be a different sample chapter from WINDS OF WINTER included at the end of the paperback edition of A DANCE WITH DRAGONS when that is published next July).

Thanks for the info... But it's something else Stannis said that caught my attention... He told the Knight he might hear rumors of his death and they might be lies or truth...

Other reason I believe Stannis lives is if he falls so do Theon and Asha... I can't see them dying and Theon being caught by Ramsey again...

But then again Stannis could be dead because apparently, Asha is going to rescue Theon from Stannis so they will be gone when Ramsey get there... And Ramsey know that Jeyne is heading to the Wall... But he do have spies or had spies...

But the main part of the whole thing that make me believe Stannis live is because Roose Bolton stayed back with his best men at Winterfell... GRRM made sure we knew that... So a bigger battle is coming. And I am not saying Stannis will defeat Roose but they will face each other...
