70s Amber Vibe

Here's an NPR article on the prevalent 70s vibe throughout the Amber series. I wasn't around during the 70s but I didn't really get this vibe from Amber anyway, or at least not as much as from other sci-fi/fantasy stuff of the time (Stranger in a Strange Land made me feel like I had lived through the 70s). Interesting article nonetheless.

The '70s were my formative years (born '61), and I read the Amber books starting in '75 with the publication of Sign of the Unicorn in Galaxy, and I don't get the slightest "70s vibe" from the series. But then I don't consider the Amber books to be a "guilty pleasure," either.
