I just wanted to share my opinion on this book. Not that any of you care; nor should you. I thought it was AWESOME! I have a fetish, it would seem, for books written on the craft. I have read his Memoir on the Craft, John Gardener's Notes to Young Writers, a few others, and several prose books - not that they have sunk in yet - including The Elements of Style.

Danse Macabre was a lot of fun because it focused on a single genre - my favorite in fact - and, though I'm a little biased, I loved that it was from Stephen King. I just don't believe another writer could have pulled off a book like this the way he pulled it off. Despite being for a particular genre, I must say it's one of the most informative books I believe I've ever read.
