Anyone read this or the series?
I recently read it and encouraged my 9yr old son to give it a try (looks a bit too much like a girls book on the cover) and he is in love with it too.
We have been reading it together, but last night I left it at a crucial point and he kept reading till nearly nine, then picked it up as soon as he woke up and carried on reading (rarely happens, always goes down and watches telly). I had to drag him away to eat his breakfast and get to school.
Its a beautiful, mysterious and captivating tale of two children who live by the sea. There dad disappears but they wont' believe he is dead. He shared the name of a man in an old village myth who was captivated by a mermaid and was never seen again.
Then the children start finding themselves drawn to the sea...
