Hey, as the title says. Does anyone know of any books that say, put vampires, angels and werewolves -or creatures that share the same aspects- in fictional fantasy worlds?

I know of Jacquiline Carey, and the Wayfarer Redemption by Sara Douglass also count to me, but I'm looking for recent releases, and preferably not bestsellers.

Thanks.

Well it's not so recent, but A NIGHT IN THE LONESOME OCTOBER by Roger Zelazny has a vampire, a werewolf, Jack the Ripper, Frankenstein and his monster, Sherlock Holmes, and a bunch of other entertaining characters all mixing it up in a Lovecraftian way. Great stuff.

Oh yeah, a parody on urban fantasy in general... interesting. Although it takes place in London -although I see it does drift off into some dream world, which might work.

Thanks for the suggestion. :)

Hi, Warren, these are probably no good as examples, but just in case...

First, how about Jim Butcher? His Dresden Urban Fantasy is set in this world, but his main character crosses over into other worlds as well. Only problem is that they definitely qualify as bestsellers.

The only other one I know of is Richelle Mead's Dark Swan series (a little on the romantic side for some people). Shamanic bounty hunter in this world, but perhaps three quarters of each novel is set in the Otherwold.

That's still pretty popular, so may also be of no use. Do you need something exclusively set in/on another world? Good luck with the search, anyway.:)

The only one I can think of is Andy Remic's Clockwork Vampires series:

Angry Robot are very much into genre mashups :)

Thanks Anne, and that you say Angry Robot like mashups is good, since I'm hoping to put my book in for the open door next month. fingers crossed.

Thanks Aber. Yeah, I'm trying to find books like mine, which is angels, demons, and a half-breed vampire as the villain, all set it an english themed medieval fantasy world.

So I'm trying to avoid ones that still use earth as a base for the story. I gave Sara Douglass as an example above, Icari are pretty much angels imo... well bird-men to be honest, but it's very similar.

EDIT: Yes, Clockwork Vampire is a good suggestion, it works, perfect!

Joe Pitt series by Charlie Huston is a noir series set in urban fantasy world, setting. The series is from mid 2000s so its not old. Maybe noir is too dark for you though i dont know.

The writing, character is very noir and the story i urban fantasy with vampires etc

Much better mix of crime and urban fantasy than the popular Jim Bucther Dresden Files series. That is really only urban fantasy with a wizard that doesnt act at all like a PI.

Thanks Connavar and Dusk, but those are based in Chicago and New York with urban settings, not what I'm looking for. I'm looking for Epic Fantasy with elements of Urban added to it - so no books based on earth or parallel earths.

The Chronicles of Elantra might fit the bill. Not exactly vampires and werewolves, but some other odd species in an urban setting.

These are very close to what I'm looking for and might work. Thanks Elvet.

Aha urban fantasy element in fantasy world ?

Epic fantasy that start out in urban real world sounds like what you are looking. Like The War of the Flowers by Tad Williams. Set in fairy world.

Glen Cook wrote a PI urban fantasy series set in world of gnomes etc http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/400878.Sweet_Silver_Blues

Of course, Tad Williams... why didn't I think of that.

The other one looks like potential too, thanks Connavar.
