Melisandre serves the Lord of Light and is a true believer. We now know this from he POV in aDWD. We also know that "true King's blood" may play a part in the story, and she may use a human sacrifice to R'hllor that will require the use of King's blood, perhaps to wake the stone dragons. Melisandre has already used Stannis' blood (using leeches) in an effort to do away with Balon, Joffrey and Robb.

So the question I have is, what does she do when she comes to the full and absolute realization that Stannis is NOT Azor Ahai? Will Stannis be sacrificed (he is, after all, the rightful King) in order to achieve her greater goal? Will Jon be the recipient of the power of this sacrifice?

I think the answer is yes.

Very curious to hear everyone's thoughts :)

Given Jon's efforts to get Maester Aemon away from Mel, I think we could be being led to believe that Mel may be looking to Jon for her future blood supplies.

(I wonder if it matters whether Jon is occupying Jon at the time of the bleeding?)

I think you nailed it with this one Imp!

Sooner or later Mel will have to admit that Stannis is not AA (we all know Jon is!) he IS however a King!

The only question in my mind is will Stannis admit this truth as well and go willingly into the flames?

Stone dragons here we come! I have always felt they had to be awakened, 3 young dragons are not enough, they will lead, I have no doubt, but they will need help.

I hate to spoil the party (I actually really enjoy it), but it seems you're letting your hopes lead you astray... Melisandre's no fool, if she believes Stannis is AA, I'd take her word for it. As far as we know Jon's dead. And there's nothing GRRM likes more than to surprise us and smash our expectations. Stannis was the unlikely candidate to begin with. Noone ever thought he could make it this far, and obviously, even at this point, noone seems to believe in him (by noone I mean you guys, of course :) ) and his ability to "win" the game of thrones and be AA reborn etc.

I just have 1 thing to say on this-"I ask for visions of my king and all I see is Snow, Snow, Snow

Sooner or later even she has to get it!!:D

Given that Mel keeps seeing snow, I think the correct phrase to describe her realisation as to the identity of AA Reborn is that she finally 'catches the vision's drift'.:eek:;):)

That is the foundation of my "theory" If STannis isn't AAA he's worthless to Melisandre, except for the fact that he has lots of King's blood.

Seems so obvious I can't believe no one's brought up this version of future events before. Nice one!

Jon Snow is indeed Azor Ahai-reborn. Thus, I do believe that Jon had to die...not die-die but enough that he could feel death looming over him and then---poof! he is reborn and there's the koko krunhc. Stannis must have an idea that he may not be AA somewhere in the deep recesses in his mind and so he agreed to let Mel stay at the Wall. He must have questioned Mel about her visions and Mel must have told him that she could not see him in her fires but the boy Snow.--I dunno...

If Jon and Dany get romantically involved later on.
I'm hoping Jon is forced to kill Dany.

Tempering the blade as it where

Jon's just about to cut the cake with Longclaw when Jorah (now in Ros's employ and disguised as a temple girl from the East) recognises it and makes a grab for it. Dany runs to Jon, putting herself between him and the onrushing Jorah, just as Jon points Longclaw in Jorah's direction....

I can see how that might work.
