Hi all,

I'm currently reading the Locke and Key series by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez:

I'm reading the collected editions:

1. Welcome to Lovecraft
2. Head Games
3. Crown of Shadows
4. Keys to the Kingdom
5. Clockworks (not yet released)

I'm really impressed by the quality of the whole package. The writing and storyline is excellent, the artwork and colouring is amazing and the quality of the books themselves is absolutely top notch.

If you're looking for something different that is without doubt a top quality graphic novel then I can't recommend these highly enough.

Cheers

Second this. I haven't read the 4th book yet, but will after I'm done with what I have on my table.

Hill's cinematic writing and Rodriguez artwork is a gorgeous match, and personally this is one of the most engaging and beautiful new American comics out there.

I have heard much about this series acclaim wise not looked up what it is about.

What is good about it? What kind of series ?

The storyline focuses on the three Locke children and their mother who move to Keyhouse to live with their uncle. Keyhouse has a set of keys with magical properties that can be used to open doors or items to different places or to transform the key-holder. Although this may sound targetted to a younger audience the plot is very adult orientated and quite gruesome at times, I'd class it as fantasy horror.
It has a very engaging storyline, well written, and makes you feel for the three children very quickly. It's obvious that Joe Hill has retained a lot of his father's (Stephen King) talents. The artwork is bright and colourful at times, very dark and mysterious in others but incredibly well drawn.

I'd say it's one of the best graphic novels I've yet had the pleasure to read and I'd definitely recommend them, they're very easy to get into and gripping. I read the first four in the series in four nights - which for me is very unusal.

Here's what Amazon has to say about the first book:
