The story is about a brother and sister who have to flee their home after their parents are killed by bandits. there is also w ar going on between their country and another, but this war is a war to kill all magic users by having them kill each other. The first book ends with at least the girl living with a man in a castle, caring for his injuries. and beneath the castle there are dragons, most likely the last of their kind.
That's the all i can remember. It's a book from the 90s I think. And I think the word Mountain is in the title, but I'm not sure.
