First of all, I still believe there's better people than me on taking charge of this forum and it saddens me to see that nobody bothers. Why

Maybe it's because you are all book lovers and cannot stand the televised series. Well, in that note I'd like say that I have started liking this series and there's not much of wrong as you'll get in this slow burner at the end. The scenes and plots starts to make sense and you're not so lost. Also I like the note on regards that they're going to make next book in two seasons. So all that has been lost here, can be corrected, until HBO bosses decides to pull the plug and cancel the whole thing because it has become too expensive to produce. We see, don't we?

What I liked in this episode is that it delivered more plot conversions than many previous episodes and it truly stood proudly for its name. There are no honour among the thieves and you'll see that when the king of the Quarth delivers the shocking announcement to the thirteen. Then again, the wildling girl isn't much better, not talking about the Kingslayer smacking dead one of his kin. And as a cherry on top of the cake, Theon hangs two small badly burned bodies on the Winterfell wall to remind the people who's the *******. In that note, I'd like to give this episode four and half stars out of five.

ctg, if you don't want to do it, don't do it! I think somebody else did it last week? As for the book guys, I think they tend to comment on the eps over in the GRRM forum rather than this one, which is a pity.

Anyways, I've not seen the episode yet and you've just reminded me of that. Ta!

I stop in and have an occasional look to see what others think about the TV series, but it seems like the majority of those posting here haven't yet read the book. I try not to post in here too often, as I am afraid of letting loose a spoiler on accident.

That said, great episode! I am really enjoying how much it is diverging from the book series. Season one stayed true, possibly because of the name? This one is meandering more from Clash of Kings as the season progresses, but no where does it say that it is in fact a Clash of Kings.

Really enjoying the dialog between Arya and Tywin. The blurb on HBO.com about what the next episode is about mentions the final name is revealed to Jaquen from Arya. Just deleted a few more lines, as to some they would have been spoilers. That is precisely why I try not to post my thoughts here too often.

Carry on.

I've read the books but I like to comment here as I don't remember much of the books at all, really!

Anyway, I've now watched the ep.

I don't get what the skinny bloke in Qarth is all about. I do not remember that from the books at all. Did he do all that?

Loving Jaime. Such a scumbag but such lovely hair. I know I originally said the actor was fugly, but I'm fully retracting that statement. ;)

It's Jaime's beard, Mouse! I've always had a soft spot for a man with a beard. Though I think I'd need to see Jaime hosed down and cleaned up before I can truly judge.

I really enjoyed this episode, it was one of the better ones. The scene between Jaime and Catelyn where he talks about oaths and honour is one of my favourite parts of the whole series. They did it quite differently in the TV show, but they caught the spirit of it, and I did enjoy him taunting Catelyn over Jon Snow (cos I'm evil that way!)

Arya and Tywin continue to shine together. Tywin comes across as one of the smartest characters in the series.

I'm not sure if I'm completely liking Cersei's portrayal. I don't want to spoil anything, but the TV show has greatly humanised Cersei, compared to the book version. I think I prefer her as an evil, scheming bitch! :)

I liked the drama of Dany's scene in Qarth with the Council of Thirteen. It made good TV, even if it diverted from the book.

More Jaime please! I suspect half the audience may have forgotten who he is.

I loved this episode. Similar to Season 1 the slow build up is now starting to speed up and the next 3 episodes should be real belters.

Like, Firstfist, I am enjoying the changes to the books. They make sense in the context of the TV series and stay true to the heart of Martin's story.

It was great to see Jaime getting some screen time and the scene in the prison pen was excellent.

Mrs Ctg said that some of the stuff they are showing in this episode should have belonged to the third book. I think I agree with her even though I don't know but it makes sense that they have advanced some of the events in order to make more sense to the overall story.

Another good episode, though it felt like it dragged a little when not much seemed to be happening - ie, when Jaime was talking to the man in the pen - only for things to suddenly turn around and justify the dialogue. :)

Ending - very good - I know it's shocked a lot of people who haven't read the books.

I don't put up opening episode descriptions up, as I tend to watch it a few days late, and I don't like spoilers! :)

They said as much in interviews, some things have been brought forward to this season. They did the same last season as well, with Jamie.

I get the feeling as the seasons progress they are going to have looser and looser ties, in terms of the overall timeline, to the books. I think this is almost necessary for continuing to engage a television audience who may not be as patient as the reading audience has been. The problem they may run into in doing this, however, is that they are going to catch up with Martin before he finishes the next book. I doubt HBO will just stop dead and wait, and I rather suspect at that point (or sooner even, perhaps) the stories will diverge, and the show writers will end the series however they want to.

This of course assumes the show is renewed beyond season three or four - the writers may be forced to craft an ending due to cancellation before it even comes to it.

Yes, the reason for the big change in regards to Danaerys I think is just because her story in Qarth was so uneventful in the books that TV viewers would find it boring. They had to do something to make her story more interesting. I don't think it's a bad thing they did. Otherwise I think it's been satisfactorily close enough to the story. You just have to look at Legend of the Seeker to know they could do much worse.

I think the next book will come sooner than ADWD did. I wouldn't worry about it until they get to season five. If we still haven't seen TWOW by then, I'd start to worry. They most likely don't need that book until season seven anyway.

I would have presumed that a season 4 and 5 would be required to cover AFFC and ADWD.

One point I forgot to make earlier about this episode - loved the two big sweeping shots, one of Robb's camp, and the other of Harrenhal - good visuals. :)

I will confess to a small cheer when Ygritte said "You know nothing Jon Snow" :D

When Ygritte said those words my wife did leave out a little cheer. Ygritte was always one of her favourite characters. :)

Season 3 and 4 are Storm of Swords.

Season 5, and possibly 6 A Feast for Crows. Since AFFC is bigger than ASoS I'd venture it too might get two seasons. Or they may just cut out all the fat and do one season for that, even so, we still have 3.5 years for GRRM to write a book, that's realistically possible for him if he has the right motivation - which he has.

I think every viewer in the whole world did. :)

I didn't cheer as I like Jon's chivalry and especially the tale of knights having a sword between the beds of a married couple. In Jon's case that would translate it being the direwolf, am I right?

I think that might be reading far too much into it ctg, but we were merely talking about the famous quote from the book, "You know nothing, Jon Snow." Not the moral topic of the scene. The cheering was for the quote.
