Humanoid teen-age girl, Jame, banished by her father returns home without memory of where she was since then. Finds home destroyed and bodies, incl. that of her father, scattered around. Attacked and injured by creature of the dark, she makes her way to the nearest town inhabited by humans. Lives as a licensed thief when not serving food & drink at a tavern when she lives and where the owner is both husband (in public) and wife (in private & in drag) who nags him with complaints on running the tavern.
