Read a book in the 70's: main character was a quadriplegic fitted with new leg(s) in an aquatic environment. A characters included a whale that was retrofitted to convey people and various cargo. This was early in my sci/fi reading adventures and the book was tossed with other books by a parental unit. Can anyone help with the title, etc? Would appreciate any help,,,,Tx. Sader.

Oddly, the title which comes to mind is Roger Zelazny's The Doors of His Face, the Lamps of His Mouth, but I really don't think this is the one you're remembering....

I have the book sitting on my TBR. Really should get round to reading it one day.

Definately The Godwhale. The first chapter is called Larry Dever, Hemihuman IIRC. Interesting far future earth eco-SF, well worth reading even if the scientific detail of the prose is slightly irritating at times. The godwhale is a plankton harvesting blue whale/robot cyborg.

Ah, the four-toed nebbish. But I didn't enjoy it as much as "Half past human" (the earlier book in the same universe).
