searching for post apocalyptic book

i do not know the title nor the author it has been to long but the premise is this guy is looking for his sister whom disappeared in this post apocalyptic world he searches for her on his motorcycle with a side car and his pet bull terrier. Any help you can give would be appreciated. It has been a long time since i read it and would enjoy reading it again. Not to mention being able to finish the series. Thank you for your help and knowledge.
