I hate because they make superhero look geneic, cheap because they are only gimmicks. Why I follow creators and my three big two superhero comics are self contained series. Daredevil, Batman, Winter Soldier rarely get touched by events.

Reason I have become more indy, genre comics is too many events....

Batman's been infected a few times lately: RIP, Court of Owls, etc.

I generally agree, though. There are a few crossovers I do like, and in my next post (after Philippe's) I'll talk about why I think those work.

But suffice to say, most of them stink. Mentioned Secret Invasion, Final Crisis and Blackest Night as the ones that are IMO the worst offenders in recent history.

I dropped batman when Rip came out and Snyder lost me after 5,6 issues of his new batman run. The owls thing was boring yet another mystery that try change things and is forgotten in less than 2 years. I wass bored long before the event. Batman is their only big cash cow they have to have more events than before.

Dc and marvel is making me more and more genre comics by ruining good superhero comics. Today Indy companies like image,Darkhorse and others are publishing better comics than ever.

I would only compare the fun great run daredevil by Waid to the walking dead.
