Dear all,

I recently came across a story printed in an Iranian magazine in 1941 about three Chinese scientists who had traveled to Mars on a spaceship, only to discover remnants of an extinct civilization. They had discovered there that the Martian "canals" were in fact hieroglyphic warnings to humans not to approach Mars, as its atmosphere was contaminated with poisonous gas (giving the planet its red color) that would turn anyone who came into contact with it into solid stone or metal. They discovered, moreover, that before they had completely died out, the Martians had sent a spaceship, with an eight-year-old boy and girl (Adam and Eve) to Earth, in order to preserve intelligent life.

Does anyone have any clue where this story might have come from? It is presented in the Iranian magazine without any explanation, and makes it seem like it may even be fact. I'm wondering if someone here may know of a piece of science fiction that inspired this text, or that the text directly translated.

Thanks!
