It's that time again:
July Releases (a gallery of SF/F/H covers of books coming this month)
I'd already ordered the 29th annual Dozois anthology (I think the official release date is the 3rd). I don't forsee reading any more of Peter F. Hamilton's gigantic novels, but I liked his A Second Chance at Eden collection, so Manhattan in Reverse looks interesting.[1] I've been rediscovering Laumer (with vaguely positive results) but never did read the Imperium books - not really my kind of thing, I don't think, but might be good. And then I like Bierce's The Devil's Dictionary and I think I've read one or more of his stories so that "weird" collection looks interesting but, given the publisher, it probably costs a few thousand dollars and won't be an option unless the SFBC picks it up.
What looks good to you?

[1] Riddle me this: why, if his novels are a thousand pages, are his collections less than 300? In the one case where the book being a thousand pages wouldn't be a problem, they're short and you buy two or three collections for the equivalent wordage of a novel. Same thing happens with Reynolds and all the other bug-crusher authors who also manage to write short fiction. Galactic North, fantastic though it is, is relatively short and there's an entire collection (Diamond Dogs and Turquoise Days) with a mere two "Revelation Space" stories in it which, if combined with Galactic North (so that all "Revelation Space" stories could be in a single volume), would be still be shorter than most or all of his novels. Collections and novels used to be about the same size, even as page counts grew over time, but that seems to have died in the 90s.
