You guys are great, and I'm sure one of you can help me.
Of the many , many books I've read over the years , one is set on another planet but the storyline is very similar to that of the French Revolution, with all the upper classes being caught and a 'device' being used to deipatch them in much the same way as the guillotine did. It's quite a high-tech civilisation, and if I recall there were magical sentinels guarding the exits to the city.
Only real memories are that the novel revolves around the first-person story of a young (teenage?) girl being seperated from her captured family and trying to get to them/rescue them.
*Edit* -May have been called something like 'The Terror'?
Thankyou for reading.
