I don't read much SF, but there are a few authors I really enjoy. Right now I'm reading Caliban's War by James S.A. Corey, after enjoying the first book of the Expanse. My other favorite SF series is the Culture by Iain M. Banks (I've read them all). Though maybe more fantasy, The Tales of the Ketty Jay by Chris Wooding have a similar feel. Are these books described as space-operas? I'm looking for recommendations for more of the same.

hmm well a fave SF space opera styley that I love is Hamilton's Night's Dawn Trilogy and the Commonwealth Saga...not really sure if that is what you're looking for but they are big and grand and SF, (imo) well written and interesting, well worth a read...
