This man is too old and this is his final chance to pass three test one he plays the flute in.. One he makes a rhyme.. And the last he plays football as a quarterback with androids.. Once he passes he gets into the higher class where the higher class is all about betting :/ if you have any clue what this book is let me know! Thank you!!!!!
 
This would be Piers Anthony's Apprentice Adept series, specifically the first book, Split Infinity, although your memory has mangled it a bit. :)
