Dear Experts,
My novel is about a Doberman Pinscher that develops exceptional mental powers that continually advance to the point where he can control other dogs. To keep his secret, he must dispose of people who become suspicious; all without anyone suspecting the dogs. Not a Cujo, not The Omen, and not a talking dog story. The reader is presented with scenarios including canine savant syndrome, the paranormal and satanic possession.
I'm a dog expert, but a first-time author with inch-thick skin, so I'd like a very harsh critique. Is it scary enough? Is the style acceptable?
Thank you,
Bev McQuain
I submit one chapter.

I think you'll find we have a section for critiquing.

Sadly, you don't qualify to post as you haven't made 30 posts. We like newbie's to make a contribution to Chrons before other members will spend time pulling a work apart.

I'm sur a Mod will be along shortly to confirm this.

You don't have to walk away. Just get involved, then when you qualify members will gladly help you.

Rules are rules.:)

As Gary says, join in, throw a few critiques up on the stuff on the boards - critiques in the aspiring writers section, and when you have the posts under your belt, go for it. Although crits only go to 1500 words, even then. But, hi, welcome to the chrons.

Understood. I'll be back for a critique after I've submitted the qualifying number of posts.
Thanks,
Bev

I've removed the attachment for the time being - however, once you get to 30 posts, you'll only need to post up a few paragraphs for potential issues to immediately rear their head.

Most aspiring writers think they probably only need minor tweaks, but usually the level of writing competence shows in just a short sample.

In the meantime, best of luck with it, but I'd best close this thread. :)
