Greg Bear, anyone?

Anyone here like Greg Bear? I've not read any of his before, but I've started Eon, and I'm very much enjoying it. Big ideas, nicely written. Reminds me a little, with regard to style, of Kim Stanley Robinson perhaps. What do you like by him? Or dislike?

Eon is the best SF story ever.

Hull Zero Three was a massive disappointment. There was a lot of potential that was never fully realised.

I read it first as the short story it came from, which I thought was excellent, hence I was slightly biased as read the later novel. I felt the story's expansion (no spoilers but the mood between the endings of the two version changes) seemed quite 'tacked on' to me, just to make it novel length.

Preferred the short.
