As the title almost says apologies for the vague description

I dont really recall much about the book I am searching for other than these particular details

A human team on a spaceship dsicovers orbiting a planet a derelict spaceship unlike anything hey have seen. They find out it is from Earth and that the alien races they live with have been lying about where humanity comes from, and that finding this spaceship and others like it means death

Soory to be so vague but I just cant think of anything else, any help even minor would be grand
