Crown of Stars - What Happens to Hugh?

I'm about halfway through Prince of Dogs at the moment and the character of Hugh is starting to seriously freak me out, particularly the effect he's having on poor Liath.
I really want to keep reading the books (they're amazing!) but I need to know how much longer I have to put up with him before he dies a horrible messy death (at the moment I'm favouring being eaten alive by a guivre but I'll settle for decapitation).

So please, oh wise ones - how soon before his death scene? And is it very unpleasant?


please for the love of god don't tell me he survives to the end I don't think I could stand it

The fact that I've gotten 30-odd views but no replies is really not filling me with confidence here...I'm going to assume he doesn't die. Is he at least exposed for the villainous douchebag he is sometime in this book?
