Help needed finding a short story

I need help finding the name and author of a short story about a pilot in a space war who crashes on a planet inhabited by creatures that have all sorts of weapons in them as a result of the harsh environment. One creature, called Magog in the story I believe, captures the ship and uses it to impregnate her egg. The result is a changed ship and a changed pilot...better than they were before. The ship's computer was programed with a female voice and personality I remember, and was a replacement for the man's regular one. I also remember the pilot instructing his flight to come to get themselves improved...he uses the line..."To start with, I got laid" at the end of the story. It was him telling his flight's pilots what happened to him. Any help finding this story would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

I found it. Here is a quote on it from Wikipedia.

"Early Bird" is a science fiction short story written in 1973 by Theodore R. Cogswell and Theodore L. Thomas. The story was first published in Astounding: The John W Campbell Memorial Anthology. It takes place within the same universe as Cogswell's 1952 novel The Spectre General and features the character Major Kurt Dixon of the Imperial Space Marines."
