I'm deliberately staying away from the season discussion threads because I'm only watching as they come out on DVD (just finished season 2 and loved it).

Apologies if this has come up before but.................................
I have a question for all you Kirkman zombie afficionados. Food?

Obviously zombies eat. But do they need to? From the footage I've seen, zombies will attack and eat whenever and whatever they have the chance to, but there can't be that much left to go around. I can't see them being much good at trapping wildlife and they don't seem to be too good with a tin opener. So, why are we not seeing zombies dropping through starvation?

Zombies consume allot less energy simply existing than the living. They don't have to heat themselves for example, and in winter that means they freeze solid if it gets cold enough in World War Z.

The energy they use to move must come from the body, but no doubt far more efficiently than the living. In the comics that energy does run out at some point and they just sit down where they are.

Ahh! That kind of makes sense. Thanks for the reply. It would be interesting to have a scene where a character gets trapped in a place with thawing zombies just starting to move again.
