Spaceship as the whole world

I read this book long time ago.
Spaceship where some revolt occured and citizens now think ship is the whole universe. Who doesn't agree is fed to recycling tanks. There is mutant zone that happened after some radiation leak. Some guy is apparently challenged the rule getting some two head mutant and others to help getting an edge with "long knifes" about which he read in the book Three Musketeers.
Does that ring a bell to anybody. I would appreciate if you could identify an author and name of the story. Thank you.

Robert Heinlein's Orphans of the Sky, I would think.

Yep, it certainly sounds like it. Though perhaps it might simply have been the more well-known first half of that two-part set, "Universe", which was also included in The Science Fiction Hall of Fame vol. IIA....
