Novel about a misfit who finds she can be a hyperspace pilot.

This is a novel I read in probably middle school. It's a story about a girl going to a planet to settle it I think. The ship is new and it has gravity by rotation. There is some sort of mystery that she helps solve. The main thing I remember is at the end, she finds out that she is one of the select few who can be a hyperspace pilot or something like that. It was a young adult literature kind of book but I cant remember what it was.
