I read and rather liked The Stress of Her Regard, by Tim Powers but have read nothing else by him. What of his other works are like that one and/or what of his other works would anyone recommend?

I liked it, too, although it was a long time ago that I read it and my memories of it are a bit vague.

Hide Me Among the Graves, which just came out, is a sort of sequel. It's very good.

I would definitely recommend Last Call, one of the most original fantasy novels I've read. Magic, the Tarot and the Arthurian Fisher King myth are all woven into a tale of Las Vegas poker games played for supernaturally high stakes.

He must like card games Spoiler, Because a major outcome of Declare hinges on a game of hi-low poker, which also gives a double meaning to the books title

Btw, the above wasn't an insult. It means there's whited text following, which might be a spoiler to "Declare". I just reread this and couldn't figure that out myself until I remembered.

It does sort of cause you to question your abilities as a writer when you can't figure out what you yourself wrote.:p
