A Discussion On Santa’s New Tradition

You say you remember when the deliverer gave gifts. Trinkets, items of no physical importance or value. Back before the accident. You say it was better.

I say to that, you’re crazy. Sure, every winter, most people now huddle up in rooms made of silver or iron, to prevent being attacked. But I didn’t. I loved what the accident did.

The gift of eternal youth, eternal beauty…thank you, Saint Nicholas.

Gifts of the Magic

They pledged their love till death did them part; they never bargained on the undeath.

That Christmas, as their last friend was taken, each vowed to keep the other safe.

Long on love but short on coin, they made their separate deals.

She sold her blood, bought a charmed bow tie; it would protect him -- from her, as well.

He stole a silver cross for her, but was caught; his head went on a pike.

V An Apocalyptmas Carol V

Silent night, unholy night
All's too calm, all's not right
Slain yon virgin, mother, and child
Reborn infant, so rampant and wild
Blood on terrified streets <Repeat>

Silent night, unholy night
Townsfolk quake at the sight
Grigori screams from cities afar
Ungodly hosts sing haematoma
Van Helsing, the slayer, is warned <Repeat>

Silent night, unholy night
Son of vengeance, born to fight
UV torches, sharp stakes, garlic mace
Into battle, his foes he must face....

Moscow-7

The star atop Spasskaya Tower was a gigantic festive decoration, standing out against the night sky. Frost burned my exposed skin, but I reveled in the exquisite pain. A figure in fur coat approached, her boots crunching on the new snow.

She smiled, displaying prominent canines that rivaled my own. “Konrad.”

“Greta. Merry Christmas.” The body lying behind me groaned.

“A gift?” She displayed her body, naked beneath the coat. “And I brought only myself.”

Twas the Day Before Christmas

Twas the day before Christmas, when all through the crypt
Not a creature was stirring, no necks being ripped.
The bodies were hung upside down with care
In hopes that a feast would drain in the lair.

The undead were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of blood cocktails danced in their heads
The hunters wore green and had red in their cap
They shot arrows through hearts, the eternal nap

You girls and boys won't get any toys unless you let me in...

Christmas eve, the electricity went off. 30 minutes later, someone knocked at the door.

"Scottish Power," the guy said. "Let me in."

I would've, but his fingers were long and sharp as crucifixion nails.

While we boarded up the door, he appeared at the window, wearing a red hat. Max is only three. He didn't know you mustn't invite them in.

And now it's dark. It's very cold. And something's coming down the chimney.

Beware Seasonal Food Poisoning

In more than five hundred years of being undead, he'd always hated Christmas. Yet, here he was, taking gifts to the children's hospital, still in his evening suit and cape. And a ruddy sparkling dicky bow!

He'd thought his victim human, but no. A reconnaissance elf, scouting routes for the sleigh.

Elf blood is infectious, and Saint Nicolaus has a cruel sense of humour.

"It's Uncle Vlad!" a small voice piped. "Santa's Assistant!"

He cringed.

Last gift of the night

A single carrot adorned a plater beside a goblet of milk. Nearby a single stocking of intricate weave hung from a fireplace clean of soot.

He lay in excited anticipation.

A gentle puff of soot announced the arrival. Footfalls as soft as snow across the room.

He peaked. Santa! The stake loomed large, the mallet steady.

“My present?”

“Ho ho no Count. This is the villagers gift. You've been such a bad boy.”

The Vampires of the Messines Ridge

After the impromptu football, rations are exchanged; dense fog crawls from the river, veiling swathes of No Man’s Land.

Small, disoriented bands of soldiers grope their way back to their trenches, through freezing cratered mud and tangled wire.

Few return: raving of murderous leather-winged beasts within the murk; judged “Lacking Moral Fibre”.

Occasional fog-blunted screams have others believing the Christmas truce has been broken. Inevitably, the Lewis guns restart their own indiscriminate chattering.

Xmas Evil: The Return of Charles Croydon

My death penalty electrocution kept me dormant. Now, fifty years later, I left my grave. After taking blood and pleasure from a couple, I crawled into a basement window, and slept.

Holiday music awakened me this new evening. With closed eyes, I imagined the gruesome murders I plan to commit. Grinning demonically, I crept upstairs.

To my surprise, werewolves attacked me! They didn't care for my tainted meat. Laying limbless in a fireplace, I SCREAMED!!!

The Gift of Extinction

“Do you remember what Christmas was?”

“Something about humans giving gifts, but it’s been centuries. Is that what this is?” He turned the box in his hands.

I smiled. “Open it.”

He pulled a holo readout from the box. “What . . . ?”

“The last of the humans; we’ve found them.”

He raised an eyebrow. “They still wallow in barbarism?”

My smile widened, revealing sharp canines which had been dry for too many years. “It will be easy.”

Under the Mistletoe

It used to be so easy,
Long dark nights with a bit of mistletoe and a final kiss.
I used to love using that parasitic plant; it was so – fitting…

“Kiss me underneath the mistletoe”
“Show me baby that you love me so oh oh”

I hate that song…
I should be playing in the winter snow,
Lights that fill the streets don’t cheer me much.
But I’d still like to bite Bieber, who wouldn’t…

One for the road

The vampire pushed past two giggling fairies, tottering past in sparkling heels.

Outside, he took a welcome breath of wintry air and nodded to Spiderman, weaving unsteadily by.

Spidey eyed him approvingly.
“Nice costume! Mine keeps riding up in the back…”

The vampire sighed and checked his watch.

Bloody office parties!

An Adolescent Literary Fantasy

Eddie sparkled under the colored lights, just the way a vampire shouldn’t.
Plus after a long night of sucking holiday spirit out of every elf in the village, he was undead tired.

If he hadn't been so exhausted, Eddie might never been trapped by the Santa Slayer.
But as it was he was easily caught up in a bad plot line.
They left him there, in the breaking dawns' twilight, impaled on that Christmas Tree.

Midnight Mass

I never asked for this, its always worse this time of year. I hear the church bells and watch from afar the congregation gathering for midnight mass. I who followed Our Lord’s word have become one of the fallen, a demon, evil incarnated, if my heart still beat it would break. Maybe I can snare a solitary worshiper, who will describe the service before I quench my thirst and have my own Christmas feast.

Silent Night

Mrs Claus slowly dragged herself across the freshly fallen snow. Red stood in stark contrast to the whiteness as she clutched her silver tipped candy cane. Christmas spirit was pumping from her neck and cheek in a torrent. She spied her husband in the distance. Black cloaked figures surrounded his fallen body, ripping shiny green and red tinsel from his jolly round stomach. His cheeks still held their rosy glow.

Merry Christmas she thought.

Red

“Never seen a fat man move so fast – here, there, everywhere in a blink. I just had to get him and take his blood.”

“So what happened?”

“He was really easy to spot, clad in red and white but every time I got close, he was off again in a flash. I finally caught him as he was leaving Hawaii. Sucked him dry!”

“And what’s your problem?”

“I’ve now got tinselitis!”

The Two Stables

Three travelers on camels looked at the two stables, a star shining brightly overhead.

“Which one?” said the first.

The middle one pointed toward the closest stable.

“But what if …” began the last.

“Let not your heart be troubled.”

The path was well-traveled. They dismounted and retrieved the gifts from their bags. Together they pulled open the heavy door.

A fluttering of dark wings immediately told them they had picked the wrong stable.
