WRITING HORROR STORIES
26th January, Mackworth Library, Derby

One day workshop for adults

This focused one day workshop looks at the world of horror writing, made famous by luminaries such as Edgar Allan Poe and HP Lovecraft and popular today through bestselling authors like Stephen King, Clive Barker, Dean Koontz and James Herbert. With a host of practical exercises, and an exploration of some of the greatest horror ever created, this one day workshop is perfect for anyone with the ambition to terrify their readership! Characters, atmosphere, monsters and 'the big reveal' – all this and much more will be covered!

Alex Davis is a writer, editor and tutor, previously working as a Desk Editor for Black Library and Solaris. In this time he has worked on a host of New York bestselling titles and with a number of luminaries from the field of genre fiction, working heavily on the copy-editing and proofreading of titles and writing a number of book blurbs and blog posts for an array of successful publications. He is a multiple-time published writer of poetry and short stories and has a wealth of experience as a tutor, running several sell-out creative writing courses in the region and workshops at venues like the Swanwick Summer School. Ah my old stomping ground! Just a wee bit far for me to travel to now though :) Hope the day goes great for all involved!
