I'm hesitant to post a manuscript (too long for this board, plus, I'd rather not "publish it".)
I am looking for beta readers and people who can give my writing a thorough thrashing.

Story treatment follows:
---
Man had reached across the stars and colonized the Galaxy, their true planet of origin lost to the mists of time.
Recruited by a mysterious woman, a young Spacer named Perrin joined an expedition to study Terra Prime, their long-lost homeworld on the fringes of known space.

While the Expedition was busy surveying their new world the Galaxy was in chaos. Billions died, entire worlds were ravaged and the twelve members of the Ankata Federation's Terra Prime expedition found themselves the only survivors of a civilization of billions, trapped on a primitive planet 85,000 light years from home.

But Terra Prime was not safe. Perrin had discovered an asteroid that would one day strike and destroy all life. With no hope of rescue and no way to stop it without help, the Expedition waits out the millennia until the natives advanced far enough for them to make contact.

With time running out, they assumed identities as natives and adopted native children as the world fought a great war. Their mission was simple: Ensure the nations of Terra Prime advanced their space exploration efforts far enough to thwart the approach of a world-killing asteroid and one day rebuild their own civilization.

But they were not alone. Forces from other worlds conspired to sabotage their efforts to save the world its natives called Earth.

Perrin enlists the help of Scott, a boy who grew up oblivious to his late parents’ lineage and his grandparents’ true origins. Together they must thwart not only a world-killing asteroid, but the mysterious forces that threaten to conquer Earth for their own purposes while rebuilding a long-lost civilization.

Anyone interest?

Put the first page of the story in a new critiques thread.

Chances are you'll get feedback that will make you think more about a new editing rewrite than looking for beta-readers!

Prove your story is polished enough for beta-reading first and you might get volunteers. You'll probably find a critique most illuminating. :)

How much are you paying for a couple of weeks work?

Seriously...

This thread is for short extracts... Start there, show us what you have... 1500( which is the max) words will not jeopardise publication of your novel and you will get range of opinions. As for the other, i find once you get to know people exchanging ( and it is generally an exchange) becomes more likely. :)

Edit: what Brian said. :)
