Box Set Protection

Hello,

I was looking through my Tolkien book collection today, and noticed that my two 70's LotR box sets aren't in the best of shape :( I got to thinking that there are a lot of options for protecting single books, but I can't think of a practical way to display and protect entire box sets. So I thought I'd register here and ask if any of you have some ideas for this?

Thank you!

I put a mylar cover over the dust jacket for each title and then I put them in my glass front lawyer case. I replaced the glass with UV reflective panes to help slow down the fading. I keep the books at 55 F and low humidity.( I have a dehumidifier in my book room).

I absolutely love putting dust jacket protectors on books! Unfortunately, these particular box sets contain soft covers. I'm also quite concerned about the state of the boxes themselves (lovely boxes!) - if possible, I'd like to find some way to protect the boxes from wear. They're not my 'reading editions' so if any method of protection makes it hard to take the books out of the boxes, that's fine too.

Ok, this is a side track from the thread, but I have to mention that when I scanned the title of this thread, I read it as "Bot Sex Protection."

I think a thread of that name should be started immediately.
